Europe 1, part of the Lagardère News group, aimed to modernize its native mobile app to meet the expectations of today’s on-demand media consumers.
The existing app lacked consistency, scalability, and modern streaming features.
Goal: Redesign the app to improve usability, unify the visual language, create a scalable design system, and bring the listening experience to streaming standards.

Condensed 1-Minute Read

Europe 1 App Redesign - Modernized Europe 1’s mobile app to match leading streaming platforms, adding timeshifting, replay, curated playlists, and integrated podcasts & video.
Designed a cross-brand, Light/Dark mode Design System in Figma, boosting scalability and accessibility.
Facilitated workshops and iterated based on usability tests and cross-team feedback.
Results: x4 audio streams 1st month, +50K video steams/day, 6 new key features.

Defining the vision and scope

I facilitated early ideation workshops to align stakeholders around a shared vision for the Lagardère audio and video ecosystem.
We prioritized features using the MoSCoW method, helping teams focus on core interactions and phase future enhancements strategically.
This collaborative framing ensured clear product goals and consistent user flows across all radio brands.

Research & insights

Through usability testing, we identified major navigation and content discovery issues that hindered engagement.
Benchmarks of key streaming apps (Spotify, YouTube, Twitch…) helped position Lagardère’s experience within familiar media patterns.
Finally, I led cross-team workshops to synthesize findings, align priorities, and co-create early UX directions.

Building a scalable multi-brand system

Created a scalable Design System in Figma including typography, color tokens, and reusable UI components.
It supported multiple radio brands, cross-device (Web responsive & App) full and Light/Dark mode compatibility.
Accessibility principles were integrated from the start, color contrast, touch targets, and adaptive font sizes across media controls.

Visual & Brand integration

Translated Europe 1’s broadcast identity into a cohesive visual system tailored for streaming platforms
The result: a content-first, visually balanced interface designed for reading, listening, and watching.
Each visual asset was optimized for responsiveness, screen densities, and cross-device performance.
